Wood Consulting Group, LLC’s mission is to partner with organizations to help them achieve their best results by developing their people and creating great workplaces. This will be achieved through training and development, strategic planning processes, employee engagement, succession management, organizational design, team development, performance management, coaching, and supplemental human resource activities. We believe in the power of understanding our own behavior and helping others understand theirs as a foundation for most of our business activities and have partnered with TTI Success Insights to provide the power of DISC, motivator, and competency assessments to our client organizations.

Wood Consulting Group was formed upon realizing a link between the founders’ passion for making a difference in organizations and communities and the need for personalized support for small and mid-sized organizations. Our vision is to be a true partner that helps organizations identify and achieve their goals more quickly, reaching higher levels of success.

About the Founders

Jennifer head shotJennifer Wood, SPHR – Principal Consultant, is a senior human resources leader with over 15 years of experience partnering with organizational leadership teams to optimize their workforces and differentiate their organizations through training, coaching, succession management, assessing and improving employee engagement, strategic planning, and organizational communication. She received her Bachelor in Business Administration in HR Management degree from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After receiving her degree, Jennifer held HR positions in a variety of industries. She began her career as an HR Intern at Freedom Plastics Inc, a multi-site PVC pipe and fittings manufacturer, where she grew to assume the role of HR Director for several years. Additional positions include HR Manager for DuPont Industrial Biosciences and Danisco Animal Nutrition, divisions of the Fortune 100 company DuPont that produces enzymes and Director of Human Resources for Glanbia Nutritionals, where she had overall responsibility for multiple manufacturing sites and corporate staff at this dairy ingredients company with headquarters in Ireland. She has helped her companies achieve recognition by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Great Places to Work Institute as one of the “Best Mid-Sized Companies in America”.

She has been certified by various entities as a trainer/facilitator for leadership and service topics, DISC behavioral training, and mindsets & behaviors required for optimal performance and change management. She is also certified as a Senior Professional in HR Management (SPHR) through HRCI. Jennifer is also involved with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and led the Blackhawk HR Association SHRM chapter in Rock County as President in addition to other board positions. Additionally, Jennifer believes in actively supporting her community and is currently Board Chairperson for Community Action Inc. of Rock and Walworth Counties and has actively supported local organizations such as the YWCA, American Cancer Society, and Blackhawk Technical College Business Programs.

ed wood headshot (2)_copyEd Wood – Principal Consultant, has been active in Human Resources for over 30 years. He received his degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.  While at UWL he joined the Army ROTC and after graduation entered the Army as a commissioned officer specializing in personnel management. After 5 years in the Army, Ed held several positions in HR in a variety of industries. He was the HR Director for the Concourse Hotel in Madison, WI; the Corporate Employee Benefits Manager for Bliss Communications which owns newspapers and radio stations throughout the state; and the Corporate Director of HR for Freedom Plastics, a PVC pipe manufacturer.   After 7 years on corporate staff at Freedom, Ed made the jump from HR to operations accepting the position of Vice President and General Manager for the company’s Florida operations. After leaving Freedom Plastics, Ed joined Cygnus Business Media as the VP of Human Resources as part of a new management team brought in after reorganization. Cygnus is a leading business-to-business media company in Fort Atkinson. After the successful sale and transition, Ed found himself back at Bliss Communications as the Director of HR. He soon took on the additional assignment as the General Manager for a $4M division. Ed’s final corporate role was as the VP of HR for Berner Food and Beverage, a $230+M PE-owned manufacturer going through rapid growth during the COVID pandemic.

Ed has also been very involved in the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).  In the local Rock County chapter, he held several board positions including Chapter president.  He also participated in various roles on the Wisconsin SHRM State Council  eventually serving a 2 year term as the Wisconsin State Director.  Additionally,  Ed was selected by other State Directors to serve the 10-state region as the Membership Advisory Council representative reporting directly to the National SHRM Board of Directors.
